, allegedly bilked nearly $3 million from investors by
promising an unusual high rate of return on a $10,000 investment in a
kiosk Music Machine. Associates called it a classic Ponzi scheme. He
was indicted by a grand jury on five counts of securities fraud and two
counts of theft of more than $15,000. All are class 3 felonies, and Van
Vleet, 63, could face 84 years in prison and more than $5 million in
fines.

Asbury Park (NJ) Councilman, Republican John J. Hamilton Jr. was charged with having a contractor
install a driveway, valued at between $5,000 and $6,000, at his home in exchange for a promise to steer
contracts his way.  He later sought a phony receipt for $1,000 from the contractor, in case he had to
explain the new driveway.  After a mistrial, Hamilton has been awaiting a re-trial which has been set back
due to health problems with a witness in the case. The new trial has been set for spring of 2008.

indicted on charges of receiving gifts including a
boat, boxing tickets, and over $112,000 in cash
in illegal, all unreported.

Officially its 10 counts of conspiracy, mail fraud
and tampering with a grand jury witness.  His
wife, Deborah Carona, has been indicted on one
count of conspiracy. His alleged long-time former
mistress, attorney Debra V. Hoffman, has been
charged on eight counts of conspiracy, mail
fraud and bankruptcy fraud.

Republican and Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, Lester Crawford pleaded guilty to
conflict-of-interest charges in connection with stock he owned in companies regulated by the F.D.A.   On
February 27, 2007, Crawford was sentenced to three years of supervised probation and ordered to pay
$90,000.

Miami-Dade Country Commissioner, Republican Miram Alonos pleaded guilty to
20 felonies for looting campaign accounts in 1998 and 1999 and trying to cover
up the crimes and charges that she looted her campaign accounts of more than
$100,000.  
Alonos was sentenced to 4 1/2 months and force her and her husband had to pay the county $250,000
in restitution.

President of the Monmouth County Board of Taxation, Republican John E. "Jack" Westlake pleaded
guilty to a single charge of tax evasion by failing to declare $350,000 in income. Westlake admitted the
money came from a payment his Alma Ltd. received from an unnamed developer in 1999 when the
developer was paid their share of the proceeds from selling land to Middlesex County for $800,000.  
Westlake  was sentenced to three months in federal prison, a fine of $30,000 and spend seven months
under house arrest after completing his prison term.

guilty to two federal felony charges related to a scheme to illegally
direct work visas to employees of some clients at his law practice.  He
was sentenced to 15 months in prison.

Republican County Councilman from Greenville County, SC, Harold
Anthony “Tony” Trout
was arrested by FBI agents for unauthorized
computer access, one count of destroying records, one count of
unlawfully intercepting e-mail correspondence and one count of
disclosure of electronic correspondence.  Trount now faces 5 years in
prison and up to a $250,000 fine and has been released on a $25,000
personal recognizance bond.

Major Republican fundraiser, Alan Fabian has been found guilty of
two separate fraud schemes, one for $32 Million and the other for
$7.5 Million, a count of mail fraud and filing a false tax return.  
Fabian has been sentenced to nine years in prison followed by
three years of supervised release.

Fabian served as finance chairman for the U.S. Senate campaign
for Republican Lt. Governor Michael S. Steele and Republican Mitt
Romney’s presidential campaign.
